TWIST SOFTWARE MEETING MINUTES
September 26, 2001
GEANT
=======
GEANT 2.0
o Art modified MOFIA to read the TDC headers. This causes the analysis
of MC data to fail since the begin run record is not filled with the proper
header info in the MC. The group agreed that for the time being this will
be dealt with by adding a namelist flag to MOFIA to identify MC events.
In the future the proper headers will be added to the MC so that real and
MC data cannot be distinguished.
o Modifying MOFIA to read the new dt_geo file is still on Konstantin's to
do list!
o Paul reported compiling problems of GEANT 2.0 on the ALPHA. He was
asked to email the error to the group.
MOFIA
======
QOD
o Kate and Art are continuing to work on testing the histogram comparisons.
o Producing PAW macro files for QOD is still on Blair's to-do list.
CFM
o Blair will work on CFM once he's done with To.
Helices
o Konstantin reported that he can now fit helices using first guess results
from Art's code using the data structures that Jim and Konstantin agreed
on.
o Jim will add his first guess code when it is ready.
Time Zero
o Blair is adding code so that time zero is referenced to the trigger scintillator.
This is the correct way of dealing with time zero since it does not result in a
shift in time zero as a result of a change in the trigger.
PACT
o Dave showed some histograms from the PACT analysis that suggest a possible
mapping/cabling problem in PC plane 7. Sun-Chong reported that he checked
the map and found it to be consistent with plane 6. Cabling need to be checked
to resolve this mystery!
o Dave also reported that he was not able to see a correlation of the PACT data
with particle type. It was pointed out that in the last few runs a scintillator ADC
was added which should help identify the particle type.
Chamber Efficiency
o Sun-Chong discussed chamber efficiencies. The DC efficiencies are ~100%
at a high voltage of ~1900 V. However he reported a low track-to-trigger ratio.
The group suggested that this needs to be investigated more carefully since the
low tracking efficiency might be biasing the efficiency result.
o Sun-Chong also reported variations in the PC efficiencies from plane to plane
that he was not able to account for yet.
o Sun-Chong will continue to work on the efficiency code. The next step is to
run the efficiency code with the wire efficiencies turned on to determine whether
there are significant variations in efficiency from wire to wire, or across the
chamber.
ABSOFT
o The group agreed to switch to the updated version of the ABSOFT compiler
since one MOFIA module does not compile with the old version with bound
check turned on. Art reported that he has been using this version for months and
has not run into any bugs (yet)!
o Konstantin reported that he already installed the ABSOFT compiler on JAM
( 1GHZ machine).
RedHat 7.1
o Konstantin will upgrade buffalo, lin06, and Art to 7.1. Rob McDonald will update
his machine at UA.
