Hi all-
I am told that versions are "frozen" for
Red Hat
Absoft
Root
Cernlibs
The above will not change for at least six months, and I would certainly
hope that the version numbers remain fixed for considerably longer. In
any case, there will be no change of versions without a discussion of
the software group. I would like to be involved in these discussions.
I would strongly recommend and request that in the event that any
version numbers (for OS, compiler, or libraries) are changed, that the
full analysis and MC code be tested on an isolated test platform prior
to the roll-out of the new software.
The change to the Absoft compiler version was actually one that was
initiated months ago, and the current discussion is really only a
follow-up discussion to make certain that those off-site know of the
version number. I would suggest that all institutions make arrangements
to freeze software versions so that we have all have consistent software
systems.
I'll ask that a summary page be created with all version numbers on the
web.
