Minutes of the E614 Software Meeting

                  13:00 Tuesday, 21 September 1999

Discussion of data structures (MQ, AO):

The data structures as diagrammed on July 19, 1999 were
discussed. The following decisions were made:

The naming convention for variable types has been
dropped. It will be up to the developers to choose
         sensible names.

The wire type is to be augmented by adding direction
variables. Wire length was deleted as it was
         redundant.

A flag will be added to the tdc type to indicate the
quality of the data. The flag will indicate whether
both leading and trailing edge data are present.

(MQ) A test will be done soon to compare the speed of
       F90 and F77 code.

 Current status of analysis code:

(MQ, RP) Code developement is currently done on mitch
before being implemented on lin01. All code in the
future will be contained in seven modules, rather than
       in separate subroutines.

(MQ) Recent tests have shown that the analysis code can
now successfully handle MC data as well as the real data
       from the August beam/chamber test.

Mofia 2.0 will be released within a wek or two on mitch,
       linux and alpha machines.

 Compilers (AO):

It was decided to go ahead and buy two ABSOFT compilers
at $350 apiece, one for TAMU and one for Alberta. If they
are found unsatisfactory, other compilers will be
       purchased.

 Meeting time:

The next software group meeting will be at 12:30 PDT on
       Tuesday, Oct. 5.
