Subject: wire count (fwd)
Hi colleagues,
I would like to discuss the subject "Wire Count/Multiplex?!" which is
in "Chambers" and "Data Acquisition" of "Schedule for Major Components".
You can see below my suggestions for the discussion. I will calculate
downstream from PC(+1) for the downstream 1/2 part of full assembly.
1.The central PC2, 2 planes:
32 wires per plane x 2 = 64 = 64
No multiplexing.
The registration area 64mm x 64mm is enough for us according to
Dennis calculations.
2.The rear PC4 (or PDC4) assembly, 8 paires of (X+Y):
80 wires per plane x 8 x 2 =1280 = 1280
No multiplexing.
3.The dense PC4 assembly, 10 planes:
32 wires per plane x 10 =320 = 320
No multiplexing.
I believe it is max. variant. It will depends on an approved variant
of the He gap thicknesses. For example we can exclude the dense PCs
(may be) if we will use the He gaps 44mm + 60mm + 44mm + 60mm +....
(it is possible) instead of the approved variant with the He gap 40mm.
We will have for the suggested variant the He gap 20mm between the
target and the 1st (X+Y) pair, and nondevisible gaps in the rear part.
I would like to ask Dennis to calculate the suggested design.
4.The outside PC2 assembly, 4 planes!:
I would like to suggest to use 4 PC2 planes (X+Y+X+Y) instead of the
approved design with 3 PC2 planes. I believe we can have two advantages:
* More precision zero time for PC4 assembly.
** We can try to exclude the Si-diod. I am worring about a noise from
nearest PC2 and PC4 to the SI-diod.
I asked of Dennis to calculate a total a total energy deposit of muon
and positron inside the 4 PC2. I hope that we can decrease a wide Landay
fluctuations by this way and separate muon and positron by ADC analysis.
160 wires per plane.
16 wires in central plane (no multiplexing) x 4 = 64 = 64
Nearest 2 wires of rest 144 wires are connected each other on a lamel.
It will increase space resolution and input noise of VTX from 1200e
to 1600e.
144/2 x 4 =288 = 288
________________________________________________________________
Total number front end and TDC channels is 64+1280+320+64+288=2016.
The total number for full assembly is 2016 x 2 =4032.
*************
It is preliminary variant for discussion. We can try to decrease the 4032
excluding #3. It is = -576.
We can multiplex 144 wires of #4 by 8 after VTX.
Using the both we will have:
Number of TDC channels: 4032 - 576 + 72 - 576 = 2952.
Number of front end channels: 4032 -576 = 3456.
______________
Let me ask you to begin the discussion in order to report the discussion
results on April 24/24 meeting.
Regards,
Vladimir
