Hi Nate,
Your analysis, assuming it's right, is comforting to the extent that it
appears the magnet is "safe" to operate in its present position. Moreover,
we have no idea what is the actual precision of the coil geometry within
the cryostat, and so ultimately must rely on field mapping in any case to
asure ourselves of the field quality.
However, it will never be easier to correct the mechanical misalignments
that have been identified than it is right now, so I would suggest we do
it.
