Subject: TN-51 The tuning of M13 for TWIST, theory and some results

Beamline M13 was tuned in the fall of 2000. Since there is only
diagnostics
at the end of the beamline, the tuning was done in a fairly indirect
way, making
use of various slits.. This paper aims to clarify the used tuning
procedures. It shows
theoretical distributions similar to measured distributions, and
explains in practical terms some relevant theoretical concepts that are
normally used to describe the beam optics and the transformation of the
initial beam parameters as the beam travels through the beamline. A
result of the tuning was that the experimental settings of the
quadrupoles agreed within a few percent with the theoretical settings.
