ARCHIVING MC data ON WESTGRID Mina Nozar April 1 2006 The MC data files are copied to a disk at SFU. The copying process can start before all submitted runs are finished. The main reason behind this feature is in case of a local node disk failure or connection problems, the MC data residing on the local node may get lost or unreachable at a later time. - Get a valid "e614" proxy - Have two active windows: One window as user "e614" on any of the nunataks, another window as user "e614" on blackhole.westgrid.ca - In the nunatak window, run the copy script: - cpMC2sfu.nocheck.pl genxxx (Use this if there are NO files already copied to SFU) - cpMC2sfu.check.pl genxxx (Use this to add files to SFU) - In the blackhole window, check how many files are at SFU: - cd /data/e614/mc - ls -1 genxxx/data | grep -c run - Repeat the cpMC2sfu.check.pl genxxx untill all the files are at SFU. - Do a final check by inspecting the file sizes. Due to network problems, a data file might have a size of 0. In this case, delete the file and rerun cpMC2sfu.check.pl genxxx
