INFO ON THE RF BOOSTER (or "What is it and why do we care?") The RF Booster is a part of the cyclotron that "compresses" the proton bunches, allowing for cleaner separation of each turn (and better TCAP precision). It is not necessary for the operation of the cyclotron, although it improves things and is on most of the time. Sometimes it goes off for various reasons. However, having it off can affect the proton beam characteristics. We don't know if we're sensitive to this particular effect or not. So the Control Room has agreed to call the TWIST Counting Room if the RF Booster goes off. If you get such a call, mention it in the elog, but there's no need to stop running or anything. Any questions? Call the run coordinator! Or Glen Marshall, he knows things too.
