Things Rob MacDonald would like to see recorded in the ELog regularly (ESPECIALLY when they change, but other times, too -- maybe in each Shift Summary? or auto-logged at the start of each run, or every few hours?). Many of these are already being done well, but it's worth mentioning anyway...: - ALL beamline magnet settings (benders and quads). - All DAC settings. - All available field readings. - Which epics file was used. - ALL slit and jaw settings (including both position and width). - At what MOMENTUM do we think we're running?! (And since which run have we been at this momentum?) This is calculated from the B1 NMR reading... Perhaps an appropriate momentum scan picture should be pinned up in the Counting Room or something... - What are we using for an event TRIGGER? - When starting a new project (ie. taking data for a different reason), what project are you starting to do? At which run does it start? Things Rob MacDonald would like to see in the "run description" line, at least when they change (and for some it only makes sense to list when they change): - Purpose of run. - Channel Momentum. - Beam element settings (eg. B2). - Trigger. - Cable changes. Other things Rob MacDonald would like to see: - A list of initials. Some most of us are familiar with, like JMP or KO, but others aren't obvious -- who is RET, for example? Roy? - A list of scintillator labels. When something says "Trigger is m1*m2*m12" in the runlog or elog, it would be nice to know what that means. - Please don't use terms like "left half of the detector" unless you define what "left" means. ("Beam left" is a good standard, but please actually state that.) - When a change is made to maps or geometry files or something, please list which runs (or run ranges) the changes should apply to when you announce the new files in the elog (or forum). Often changes are made that should be implemented for *all* runs, or all runs for the last month or so, or whatever. If you've already implemented the changes in CFM, great, but it's good to know that the changes have been made (and to which runs).
