Run Plan, as of 19 November 2002 [update, 21 Nov 2002, to account for ~14 hours of lost time due to slit problems today; see elog. Also to account for the positron data that wasn't taken on Wednesday...] [updated again, 23 Nov 2002] Extra time by finishing early can often be filled with cloud muon runs. (completion dates in parentheses) [Experts in brackets] 2. Full surface muon data set with NOMINAL settings, to confirm our ability to reproduce settings. (2 days) (finish morning, 23 Nov) 3. Full surface muon data set with all PC High Voltages lowered to 1950V. This is complementary to a set with DC HV's (whose HV's were lowered by 100V from nominal). The point is to check for systematic effects due to PC inefficiencies, which is particularly likely since PC's are so important to windowing and classification. (2 days) (finish morning, 25 Nov) 5. Miscellaneous tests and tasks (Glen has a list), including: F2VSL tests (2 hrs?), and MLT run (1 hr?), and more! [Glen] (0.5 day) (finish evening, 25 Nov) - Take a small amount of 50 MeV/c positron data, for efficiencies and things. (1 hour!) (part of Item 5) 4. Momentum scan, taking data at each step, from 29.6 MeV/c to 32.8 MeV/c. (0.5 day) (finish morning, 26 Nov) 0. Take more Cloud Muon data (32.8 MeV/c, nominal settings) until just before beam off. .. Don't forget to take a surface muon run and set up for the target scans before the maintenance day starts! [2 day Beam Dev/Training/Maintenance (Tuesday 26/Wednesday 27)] 7. More of the interrupted Cloud Muon data. (0.5 day) (finish morning 28 Nov) 8. Data with negative muons. Helps us get a handle on asymmetries and systematics. (Radiation survey needed) [Glen] (0.5 day) (finish evening 28 Nov) 9. Stopping pions in the target [Dave, Andrei]. (1 day) (finish evening 29 Nov) [--- there's a weekend here I don't know how to fill; cloud muons, I guess ---] 10. Ramp field to 1.96 T. (couple hours) (finish midday, 2 Dec) 11. (Almost) full data set with B=1.96T (for energy calibration etc.). (2 days) (finish morning, 4 Dec) .. Don't forget to take a surface muon run and set up for the target scans before the maintenance day starts! 12. Change PC gas to Ar/ISO during 4 Dec MAINTENANCE DAY. [RO] (1 day) (finish midday, 5 Dec) 13. Take some data. (few hours) (finish evening, 5 Dec) 14. Reverse PC gas change back to usual gas simultaneously with field ramp to 0T. (begin evening, 5 Dec) 15. Ramp field down to zero. (Moved up to Friday; don't want to ramp on a Saturday.) (1 day) (6 Dec) 16. Wait for the PC gas change to finish. (afternoon, 6 Dec) 17. Pion and positron check for alignment and efficiencies. (1 day) 18. Surface muon data for alignment and comparisons and things. (1 day?) BEAM OFF 10 December, morning.
