Run Plan for 18 july 2002
Check over the shift guidelines to make sure you know what your shift duties are. Remember to check on the gas system particularly at night. Shift checklists are here. In addition to the regular shift duties, you should be checking the He flow rates approximately every half hour for the cooling of the magnet. It is important that we document beam settings including slit and jaw settings each time they are changed for a set of runs.
The list of studies to do are (not necessarily in order):
- Test Muon projection. Set up a spray tune of 29.4 muons to illuminate the muon counter, and look at the reconstructed projection of the muon counter. Use this to get a measure of the position resolution of the muon projection.
- Check data to make sure all hardware is working. Are all of the wires for each plane getting data at a sensible rate (maybe do this with a pulser run)?
- Try to stop muons in the target (29.4 Mev/c muons) using the gas degrader. We need to use updated tools for this, which will be anounced by Rob when they are ready. See some of the elog postings from a few nights ago.
- Implement a fix to the high current in upstream PC's using a midplane degrader for 120 MeV/c pions. Retake the alignment data with all of the chambers on: Data with 120 MeV/c pions (10 runs with a focussed tune, and 6 runs with an unfocussed tune).
- Try to stop pions. See tech note 42.
- Take a PACT pedestal run. Instructions can be found here and here.
- If the above plan is completed, try to figure out what beam settings should be used for 0 polarization.
