SLOW control and monitoring

E614 Status Bar

The status bar REQUIRES that the process 'allstat' is also running.  It should be started automatically with the rest of the DAQ tasks.  Look at the bottom of the MIDAS status page for a list of tasks - you should see it listed there.

To start the Status Bar display itself, enter the command

 ~/pewg/slow/e614/e614.tcl&

The status bar display is fairly self-explanatory.  There is a button for  each major equipment in the Slow Control system (most of them are
currently disabled - only the Gas system and DAQ buttons are active). The colour of the button indicates the status of the Equipment.

Green - OK and in standard data-taking mode
White - OK but not in standard data-taking mode (e.g. the DAQ button
turns white when the run is stopped or paused).
     Grey - no information
     Yellow - Warning Condition
     Red - (Serious) Error condition

To get more information on the status of an equipment, click the RIGHT mouse button on the button.  Another window will appear giving additional information (if available).

Click on a button with the LEFT mouse button to bring either a detailed status window or a menu which allows you to navigate to one of several such windows (e.g. the Gas System brings up a time history of the temperature and pressure, which updates every minute - the DAQ button shows you the rate (in kBytes / second) for both Trigger and Slow Control events).

The Status Bar can be run several timnes concurrently (e.g. it could run both on the X-term and the PC).  It places very little strain on system resources, so running it more than once should not unnecessarily load the system.

Please report problems and/or suggestions for improvement to  pewg@triumf.ca.
