Friday 1) ramp magnet ramp to 2T 2) TEC measurements at 2T - start with 29.6 MeV/c tune, but slits/jaws narrower than nominal - check that PC currents aren't too high (no more beam gas problem?) - open F0 slits to nominal ~2kHz rate setting (18x60mm) - with nominal 29.6MeV/c tune, and 100% He in degrader take ~1 million triggers with TEC and detector HV on - nominal 29.6MeV/c with Q6,Q7+/-10% 200k events each - scale from 29.6MeV/c tune up to 40MeV/c, open F0 if need more rate take ~250k events? 3)- Take a deep breath, hold onto your metal objectsh tightly, then out TEC with non magnetic tools - change B1 probe cables in area to #1 positon - move beampackage foil degrader to position 8 or 9 to do upstream stops - set gas degrader to 65% He??? 4) Try to get more info about correct B2 setting. - Setup 29.6MeV/c tune with B2 setting that centers <x>=0 from TEC measurements at z=-134cm. This setting is B2=949G. - with extra foil degraders stop muons in dense stack/ position 8 or 9 - adjust B2 +/- 1,2,3 G to maximize mean stopping z from "trackrange: restricted stopping Z for muons" histogram from mofia anal - after first run, start getting monitoring software running 5) Center muon stopping distribution in center of stopping target - use nominal 29.6MeV/c tune - start with 65%He - take out foil degrader down in the area (position 0) - wait ~30min per setting for gas degrader to finish "purge" - take a run and look at -12cm to 12cm range of "trackrange: restricted stopping Z for muons" centered mean of histogram is -0.745 (-0.845 moves upstream by 4.5microns of Aluminum) - adjust He+/-XX% as needed until we get centered Friday late night -> Sunday night sometime: 8) Start a nominal dataset of 300 runs (of ~850k events per run) - wait for gas degrader to be fully purged (how long?) - use nominal 29.6MeV/c tune - take data for about 2days Sunday night sometime: 9) Take a systematic set of 300 runs of slightly upstream stops - how far to move restricted stopping Z for muon mean? ask Dave
