Detailed Runplan -- For first few days of running Last updated: Oct 15/2004 1pm Start with Be production target, TEC in, Mtec trigger Do the following tests interspersed with consistency check runs at surface muon (29.6MeV/c) settings (2 times per shift): 0) get TEC data with collimator to allow for new t0 & alignment of TEC, then take collimator out for rest of tests 1) look at nominal 29.6 tune, adjust B2 to center in TEC - refer to the nominal settings page for tune 2) check F1H position for: = 0 (<3mr) at =0 (<2mm), check for effect of window valve --> may need to iterate 1),2) 3) Surface muon edge scan: 25,26,27,28,28.5,28.8, 20 points in 28.6 to 31.0 MeV/c, 31.5,32,32.5, 32.7,32.8,32.9,34,35 record total T1ION and M scalers for each run, you can get these by grepping run17???.odb - tune file is 29.6 tune, with channel scaled to the new p - may need to adjust analysis cut on TCAP vs M for muons, see zero'th order TEC analysis instructions - 3.1) Develop tune for far downstream stops - try 32.8 MeV/c muons, with channel midplane degrader to eliminate beam positron triggers, possibly pion trig - need to put in a foil to stop cloud mu's at downstream end of detector (but not for TEC tests) 4) F0 scans at 29.6MeV/c 4.5) Try to find a momentum of pion (somewhere in 30-50MeV/c) that is seen in TEC and seen in upstream of detector to use for aligning TEC and detector. So do a scan of pions between 30-50MeV/c until TEC no longer gets a measurement 5) 10mm Graphite at 100 uA. --- does it work? - test window valve - Q6,Q7 scan to see if there is a new optimal tune - repeat 1),2?),3)really well!!, 4) - establish settings for 1kHz, 2kHz, 4kHz muons/s 6) proton beam stability tests with Graphite target 7) 2mm(x1.4mm) graphite target - Q6,Q7 scan to see if there is a new optimal tune - repeat 1),3),6) 8) Go back to production target we will use for running and take alignment data (8 may come earlier if the opportunity arises) - Translational Alignment: 4 runs with the tune used for runs 17484/5 Rotational Alignment: 15 runs with the tune used for run 17486 15 runs with the tune used for run 17487 t0 calibration: Use 120MeV/c spray tune with B2 centered, 1-2 runs with M trigger, 1-2 runs with DS trigger - see the nominal settings page for the required tune settings 9) magnet on...
