Running QOD

[NOTE: the "shared memory" stuff in here doesn't work! Instead, do the QOD things as normal, then issue a "save" command within QOD, and use PAW++ to view the resulting HBOOK file. -RPM 02.10.10]

1. Log on to midtwist, as user twistonl.
2. Type:

> start_qod
> paw_qod

This will bring you to the QOD directory, and open a paw++ session.
3. In the terminal window, set the environment variable MTIN to the name of the run file. For example:

> setenv MTIN /twist/data_onl/current/run0####.ybs

4. At the command prompt type:

> qodart.oct2

5. To run an analysis simply type:

MOFIA> an #####

inserting an optional number of events to be analyzed. If this number is omitted, all events are analyzed.

6. The histograms created by QOD are being saved to a shared memory section and can be viewed using PAW. Within PAW, go to the Executive Window and open the shared memory section.
            PAW++ [1] global_sec QODH
8. A new title will appear in the vertical list at the side of the Main Browser entitled QODH when the mouse is moved over this window. By double clicking on QODH you will display icons for all of the histograms created by QOD, in the large window of the Main Browser.
9. On the same vertical list as QODH there is a Macro title. Double click on Macro, to display icons for all of the available macros in the large window of the Main Browser.
10. From the list of macros double click on qod1 to begin viewing all of the histograms created by QOD. Histograms are updated as the run progresses. Type zero (0) to exit at any time.
11. Repeat steps 9 and 10 every 10,000 events.
