Today's event of the day is another GEANT event which had a muon turn around before stopping. This time since the muon started and stopped outside of the detector, event classification using history needed to be updated. Previously I had looked for muons that stopped in the detector, now I look for muons that had any space point in the detector. The previous version of the code called this an event type 26 (unknown trigger), since it skipped over the muon. The decay positron in this case gets called a beam positron, because it comes from a muon that stopped outside of the detector (before the first PC stack). With this fix to the MC history event classification, this event gets called type 20 (muon and beam positrons). Above is a photo of today's event, where the green clusters are the muon, and the yellow clusters are the positron.
