 PmuXi papers from Russian journals
  - Soviet Physics JETP,
      34(7), 176 (1958), Alikhanian et al.
Bubble chamber experiment where pions were stopped in propane,
      and decayed pi+ -> mu+ -> e+. They find 0.99 +- 0.18.
Note their lambda = our PmuXi.
BONUS: the very next article in the journal is a low statistics
      mu- measurement in an emulsion.

 - Soviet Physics JETP, 34(7),
     573 (1958), Barmin et al.
Bubble chamber experiment with propane again.
     They find xi > 0.77 +- 0.10.

 - Soviet Physics JETP, 36(9),
     940 (1959), Ali-Zade et al.
Muons were stopped in nuclear emulsion
     in a constant 2.7 T field.
     They found pmuxi = 0.97 +- 0.06.

 - Soviet Journal of Nuclear
     Physics, 6 (1968) 230, Akhmanov et al.
Muons were stopped in nuclear emulsion
in a pulsed 14 T (!) field. They also ran
at 2.7 T to show consistency with the Ali-Zade
     result, which demonstrated that
a pulsed field didn't introduce an additional
     depolarising effect.
     They found pmuxi = 0.975 +- 0.015,
which is 1.7 sigma away from pmuxi=1.
Prior to Beltrami, this was the most precise
     pmuxi measurement.
